Earth Day

Thought I would post a couple of things I learned recently that pertain to Earth Day since it's coming up on Tuesday.

1. Costco (and I'm sure other places) now have globe and recessed light bulbs with the energy saving twisty bulb technology, but with the look of a normal light bulb.

2. To go a step further...we found that Home Depot now carries versions of these bulbs that will work with dimmer switches....but they aren't cheap!!!

So this weekend we replaced all the light bulbs in our house (at least all the ones that we could) with their more energy efficient counterparts.

3. There is a website called www.catalogchoice.org which allows you to "opt out" of receiving catalogs in the mail...saving a WHOLE lot of trees and saving you the time of throwing it in the garbage. You will want to have the catalog in your hand when you do this, because it asks for the customer number which is printed on the magazine. I opted out of 7 catalogs that I had lying around in about 5 minutes.
